Director of Operations

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Lesotho nationals to fill the position of Director of Operations at the Central Bank of Lesotho.  This is a senior management position to head the Department of Operations. The incumbent will be directly responsible to the Governor or Deputy Governor responsible for Monetary Stability.

The successful candidate shall be appointed on a five-year contract period.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.     The Director of Operations shall be responsible for day-to-day management of the department, co-ordinate, and closely supervise operational activities to ensure efficient performance of the duties of the department.

2.     Provide administrative and technical expertise to staff in the department including specifically to ensure that the necessary reconciliations are done timeously for all the accounts that the Bank manages on behalf of its clients;

3.     Ensure compliance of departmental staff to  manuals of operations and other policy documents adopted by the Board from time to time;

4.     Ensure that manuals of operations and other related policy documents are updated from time to time as circumstances necessitate;

5.     Review audit reports relating to the Department of Operations and ensure that audit rulings by the Board are implemented;

6.     Participate and make meaningful contributions in Committees set up by the Bank in terms of its Bye-laws;

7.     Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Chartered Accountant (CA), or Masters in Business Administration (MBA), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), or equivalent qualifications.

In addition, candidates must have relevant experience of ten years, five of which should have been in a senior managerial position. Computer skills will be an added advantage.

OR

B.A. Economics and Accounting plus twenty (20) years of relevant experience.
