Senior Accountant, Payments and Settlements
Section in the Treasury Operations Division and
Senior Dealer, Foreign Operations in the Dealing &
Strategy Division of the Financial Markets
Department.
1.
Senior Accountant
Reporting directly to the Head, Treasury
Operations, the incumbent will carry out the
following duties and responsibilities:
-
Verify and authorise SWIFT payments, confirmations
and settlement of deals.
-
Ensure that SWIFT Bilateral keys are in place
between the Bank and its correspondents
-
Supervise and ensure that Forex, Money, and
Capital Market Deals are matched and registered
sequentially.
-
Supervise and ensure payments are made on time for
the disinvested and maturing Treasury bills.
-
Maintenance and safe keeping of foreign currency
for official trips.
-
Checking of per diem allowances and cash and
traveller’s cheques encashed by staff members.
-
Preparation of sectional quarterly progress
reports, monthly sectional budget variance
analysis and the annual budget.
-
Supervise all Payments and Settlements sectional
operations, ensuring that all operations are in
compliance with set procedures.
-
Participate in divisional and departmental
meetings.
Qualifications
BBA/BA Accounting/B.Com/General Accountant plus
five (5) years relevant experience in accounting
and payment systems.
Other Requirements
-
Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office,
specifically Excel

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work
under pressure.

Preparedness to work beyond normal hours and
weekends.
2.
Senior Dealer
Reporting directly to the Head, Dealing and
Strategy, the incumbent will carry out the
following duties and responsibilities:
-
Checking that all foreign exchange money and
capital market deals are carried out in terms of
approved guidelines and within the Dealers’ Code
of Conduct.
-
Preparing weekly/monthly/quarterly market recaps
focussing mainly on foreign exchange markets.
-
Evaluating the daily portfolio positions against
the set benchmarks and recommending an investment
plan in terms of the quarterly strategy.
-
Checking input of interest and exchange rates on
Midas.
-
Preparing annual work plan for Section
-
Preparing sectional progress reports.
-
Preparing the annual budget and monthly variance
analysis reports.
-
Supervising the work of the Section.
-
Carrying out performance appraisal for Dealer in
order to coach accordingly, and/or recommend
remedial as well as appropriate recognition of
individual performance.
-
Participate in divisional and departmental
meetings.
Qualifications
Minimum requisite qualification of BA
Economics/Financial Markets plus five (5) years
relevant experience in economics or financial
markets. A Masters degree in Economics or
Financial markets will be an added advantage.
Other Requirements

Demonstrated knowledge on the use of Microsoft
Office, specifically Excel
