Applications are invited from suitably qualified
Lesotho nationals to fill the following two
positions in the Department of Financial Markets at
the Central Bank of Lesotho:-
1. SENIOR ANALYST
Reporting directly to Head – Investments and
Market Operations Division, the incumbent will
perform the following duties:
-
Track and monitor investment indices.
-
Monitor the performance of external managers.
-
Recommend the best investment strategy in order to achieve
the Bank’s objectives.
-
Assess portfolio risk and make recommendations to the Front
Office and the Investment Technical Committee
about risk management strategies.
-
Review global financial markets and prepare analysis of
relevant financial indicators.
-
Carry out ad-hoc research on special projects or selected
topics.
-
Prepare annual plan and work programme for the section.
-
Prepare Budget for the section.
-
Supervise staff in the section, carry out performance
appraisal for Analyst in order to coach
accordingly, and/or recommend remedial as well
as appropriate recognition of individual
performance
Qualification
At least a 2(1) pass in BA (Economics) with
honours in financial markets. Candidates who
possess Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or
Masters in Economics or Financial Markets
will have an added advantage
Three (3) years
relevant working experience is a requirement.
Other Requirements & Personal Attributes

Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel

Good communication and analytical skills are necessary

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work under
pressure.

Preparedness to work beyond normal hours and weekends.
2.
VERIFICATIONS OFFICER
Reporting directly to Section Head – Risk
Assessment and Verifications Section, the
incumbent will perform the following duties:
-
Reconcile all the Bank’s foreign and domestic securities
accounts on
1)
a daily basis from the MT950’s (statements from foreign
banks) and faxed statements
2)
bi-monthly basis for ABSA cheque account
3)
monthly basis for all other accounts
-
Ensure that MIDAS accounting entries are correctly prepared
and posted into the General ledger.
-
Attend to queries arising out of the posting of entries into
accounts with counterparties or unidentified
debits/credits in the accounts held with
counterparties.
-
Obtain Certificates of year-end balances from counterparties.
-
File all Sectional documents
Qualifications
B. Comm. Degree, General Accountancy or
equivalent qualification.
Other Requirements & Personal Attributes
-
Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

Good communication skills and concern for order.
-
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work under
pressure.
