The Governor of the
Central Bank of Lesotho, Mr. Motlatsi Matekane will
officially hand over the gymnasium equipment to the
Commander of the Lesotho Defence Force, Lieutenant
General E. T. Motanyane, on Thursday, 18th
May 2006, at 3.00 p.m., at the grounds of the
Lehakoe Recreation and Cultural Centre.
The purchase of
this equipment, which amounts to M142 260.00,
follows a donation request that the LDF submitted to
the CBL, for funds to upgrade the Makoanyane
Barracks gymnasium. In honouring this request, the
Bank appreciated the special nature of the training
of the military, in relation to the uniqueness of
their duty. These needs encompass a broad range of
training requirements that would warrant an isolated
environment in most cases. On the other hand, the
Bank placed its sensitivity to the promotion of the
welfare and upkeep of the military. This
contribution will therefore go a long way to promote
healthy living for the security forces, in order to
enable them to execute their duties.
The Central Bank of
Lesotho and the Lesotho Defence Force enjoy cordial
relations of close cooperation that date back to the
inception of the Bank in 1980. The Bank therefore
views this donation as an important gesture that
seals the continued cooperation between these two
public institutions.
