In an ongoing Court Case involving the Central Bank of
Lesotho and the MKM/Star Lion Group Limited, Mr.
Simon Lebua-joang Thebe-ea-Khale took the witness
stand, as an eighth respondent, and also in his
capacity as the Managing Director of all MKM/Star
Lion Group, on Friday, 20th July 2008.
The Court had previously ordered him to reveal his
financial position, noting that same was made up of
money collected from the depositors, through
Investment Schemes that he operated, namely, (i) One
Million Scheme, (ii) Pension and Equit Creator Plan,
and (iii) Bursary Scheme.
On a related development, the Court had further ordered Mr.
Thebe-ea-Khale to provide a comprehensive list of
all immovable property and other interests belonging
to him and all his companies. By Monday, July 28th,
2008, when the Court adjourned, Mr. Thebe-ea-Khale
was still in the witness box, where he was being
questioned on details relating to the properties he
had revealed, especially relating to how he had
acquired them. To this point, the MKM/Star Lion
Group, through Mr. Thebe-ea-Khale, has still not
been able to provide a clear picture of where the
depositors’ monies, together with their cumulative
amounts, have been kept/invested.
It is expected that the case will resume on Tuesday, 5th
August, 2008, on which date Mr. Thebe-ea-Khale will
be expected to not only continue to provide details
of his properties and how he acquired them, but also
to now oblige the Court by giving a complete list of
his estate, together with proof of ownership of
same. He has also been directed to provide contracts
for acquisition of properties that have been bought
by Star Lion Group but not yet been registered in
his name.
